Look for cold, Midwestern winters in the Panhandle, where snow is a more than occasional occurrence. Amarillo receives more than 15 inches of snow a year. Winters are more temperate in the DFW region with under three inches of snow annually. Snows also can occur in western reaches of the state; El Paso receives 5 1/2 inches of powder a year. In Central and South Texas.

Mike....

We will be working near the middle of the phone bands on HF, probably around 14.250-275 on 20, 7.200-225 on 40, and 3.875-3.950. We will also be trying to monitor the local repeaters--146.62 and 146.78 and maybe 145.49. Sorry you can't make it, but we hope we will be able to work you on the air. Thanks for your interest.

Would it be possible to post at least the high points from the Monday night net ?
Since it has moved to the 146.62 repeater some of those in the north part of the area
either can't check-in or receive the net .

It is possible to view the positions and movements of storm chasers/spotters equipped with APRS and fixed Spotternetwork spotters in GRLevel3 by doing the following:

1. Make sure you have a late version of GRLevel3 software. Current version is 1.42. If not, go to www.grlevelx.com and install the latest version.

2. Launch GRLevel3. Click on "Windows" in the meu bar. Click on "Show Placefile Manager". Click of yellow folder icon in upper left corner of window. In the "Place Filename" field type "http://www.spotternetwork.org/grlevelx.txt". Click "OK". Close the Placefile manager window. You should now be able to see spotter/chaser icons on the overlay. If you move the mouse pointer on top of these icons it will show you detailed info about that particular spotter/chaser and their position.

Storm season is upon us, and many of you have had a taste of Texas springtime severe weather already. We need more mobile spotters to help verify severe weather formations as they threaten our area. Please consider lending a hand by going mobile and checking in with the net contol operator. Anyone who can give reports on reportable severe weather is asked to please check-in to the weather net whether fixed or mobile. The NWS depends on visual spotter reports to confirm radar indications--- so please make sure to check in to the net with your reports of reportable severe weather criteria in your area.

In the past I have found several of these sites to be good sources for finding used gear online. However, the best way to buy used gear is still at hamfests where the equipment can be viewed and tested or from known reliable sources. The rule of "buyer beware" certainly applies in todays times.

Hey Everybody,

I would like, very much, to have a night and time when we could have a ragchew. My idea would be to have a night for phone on 75 meters and a night for CW on 80 meters. I want to get on a pre-arranged freq and bat the breeze with whoever shows up. Not like our net where there is a control operator. We might also do the same thing on 2 meter SB if anyone is interested and/or on the repeater which has very little traffic at night. I realize we have different license classes and equipment involved so we need to do what is best for the most hams. Let me know what you think and what nights would be best for you and we will go from there. 73, Don
